Nottingham Forest have followed up their long-standing interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare by making an offer for the player.
Sangare is an ambitious target for Forest, who have wanted to sign a midfielder with a physical presence since earning promotion to the Premier League last year.
The 25-year-old has previously been linked to a host of clubs, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool all reportedly admirers. Sangare’s price tag is understood to be upwards of £30million (€35m) and, with four years left on his contract, PSV are in a strong position to negotiate with the queue of clubs who are monitoring his potential availability.
Sangare has been on Forest’s radar for over a year but was considered out of their price range last summer and ended up signing a new contract at PSV to tie him to the Dutch club until 2027.
Forest have now registered their firm interest in the Ivory Coast international after making it a priority to improve their central midfield options.
This has been part of their thinking since offering Anton Stach of Mainz the chance to move to Nottingham last summer only for the German to decide it would be better for his international chances to remain in the Bundesliga.
