The World Snooker Championship 2023 final is entering its second and final day, with Mark Selby taking on Luca Brecel for the ultimate prize on offer in the sport.

The victorious player will not just lift the trophy after the game at the famous Crucible Theatre in Sheffield – they will also be rewarded with a cheque for a hefty fee.

But exactly how much will the winner get in prize money at the World Snooker Championship 2023?

Here is everything you need to know.

The winner of the World Snooker Championship 2023 will win £500,000 in prize money.

The runner-up, meanwhile, will receive £200,000 as a consolation prize.

The beaten semi-finalists, Mark Allen and Si Jiahui, will walk away with £100,000 to ease the blow of failing to reach the final.

In addition, the player with the highest break in the whole competition will bank an additional £15,000.

But that’s not the only financial incentive on offer, with those hitting a maximum break in the main draw – as Selby managed in the final – rewarded with £40,000.

A maximum break in qualifying doesn’t pay out quite as much, but £10,000 is still handed out for a 147 at this stage of the competition.

Players who have been at the top of the game for many years will have amassed a significant wealth across the course of their career.

Selby, for example, made his debut at the Crucible in 2005 and he has gone on to win four titles in total.

However, for players languashing down the world rankings, the prize money on offer in Sheffield – particularly in qualifying – can be a vital source of income to help pay for travel, accommodation and coaching.
