Report: 42-year-old interviewed by Leeds prior to Farke’s departure in……

Scott Parker was a contender to take over at Leeds United until Daniel Farke was appointed – and now, Parker has dropped out of the contest to take over at Scottish powerhouse Rangers.

Rangers are looking for a new manager after firing Michael Beale earlier this month. It comes following the Gers’ loss to Aberdeen, as well as a spate of bad results under Beale.

According to The Guardian, Parker was on a three-man shortlist with Farke and Carlos Corberan back in the summer. Leeds chose Farke because he had won the Championship on two occasions.

Parker has also won two promotions with Fulham, though not as Championship champions, and has struggled as manager of Brugge subsequently. In recent days, he has been linked with the job at Ibrox.

Sky Sports, though, report that the ex-Tottenham, Chelsea, West Ham and Newcastle midfielder is no longer under consideration at Rangers. The Gers are being linked with a whole host of managers.

Leeds have clearly made the right decision in a move to bring in Farke, with the Whites overcoming a difficult summer but still managing to sit in fifth place as we enter the October international break.

Parker, 42, is a top manager. He has plenty of pedigree and while a move to Brugge didn’t work out, a club like Rangers would make sense. But the Glasgow outfit have decided to go in a different direction.
