WREXHAM’S promotion challenge will continue without Jordan Davies who has been ruled out of action for three months.
The midfielder sustained a knee injury in Saturday’s 4-1 FA Cup second round win against Farnborough at The Racecourse and had to be stretchered off just before half-time.
Results of the scan show that Davies, who hails from Coedpoeth, has medial ligament damage and Reds’ boss Phil Parkinson admits it is a blow being without the 24-year-old for three months.
“Jordan has medial ligament damage and it looks like he is facing three months out,” said Parkinson.
“I feel for Jordan, he has had a couple of niggles this season and it is a blow for him.
“Unfortunately injuries are part and parcel of football for individuals and for squads.
“We will make sure that he comes back fit and strong, and ready to make a contribution.”
Although Davies is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Parkinson is relieved that the injury is not more serious as an anterior cruciate ligament tear takes six to nine months to repair.
“Straight away when Kevin Mulholland (the club’s Head of Performance Medicine and Sports Science) came across to me, they felt it wasn’t good,” added the Wrexham manager.
“But it could have been worse.
“It could have been a cruciate injury which is even longer out – six to nine months.
“At the time we were worried about that so when we got the scan results, it wasn’t as bad as we feared.”
