PHIL PARKINSON will appeal Ryan Barnett’s straight red card in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Crewe Alexandra at The STóK Cae Ras.
Referee Lee Swabey sent him off in the 36th minute of the League Two match for a late challenge on Shillow Tracey.
Parkinson believes the dismissal by Swabey, who made a lot of controversial judgments during the derby, was unjustified and hopes the decision is overturned.
“The sending off incident is a very poor decision,” remarked the Reds’ manager, whose side trailed three times but earned a share of the spoils thanks to substitute Steven Fletcher’s late equalizer.
“The fourth official has given it.”I’ve been pleading with the fourth officials and linesmen to get involved, but it’s never a send-off.
“It is a low challenge, it is not dangering anybody at all and we will be appealing that straight away.”It was a greasy, slick surface, and I think as a referee, you have to make adjustments for the conditions when you walk into a game like that.
“You set a precedent the moment you start booking people early in the game.”
“I spoke to him on the pitch before the game about the conditions, and he seemed so calm and relaxed; I thought he’d be a good ref, but I don’t think he was.”
