KORTRIJK’S FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON IS DELIVERED BY CARDIFF CITY LOANEE.

Kortrijk fans can finally celebrate three points after beating Cercle Brugge 2-1 on Friday night.

After a goalless first half, Abdoulaye Sissako’s fine work was finished off by Dion De Neve. With Cercle pushing for an equalizer, former Arsenal youngster Ryan Alebiousu showed a fine turn of speed to race down the right flank and cross for Isaak Davies to finish.

Cercle did get one back to calm the hosts’ worries, with Leonardo Da Silva Lopes scoring early in additional time.

However, the Brugge team was unable to score an equalizer in the eight minutes of added time. Kortrijk won their first game of the season.

After going winless in their first eight games, the club fired Ed Still and recruited Glen De Boeck. Kortrijk’s next opponent is Westerlo, another relegation candidate that has battled to get three points this season. On Sunday afternoon, they will play Genk away.

Etete is on another level in Cardiff City’s player ratings against Rotherham, and the defender has right old ding-dong.

Here’s how the Bluebirds fared against the Millers.

Cardiff City welcomed Rotherham United to the Welsh capital on Saturday afternoon, as they returned to Championship play after losing in the Carabao Cup to Blackburn Rovers in midweek.

The Bluebirds won for the fourth time in a, thanks to a Kion Etete header and a late strike by Perry Ng. The match report may be found here.

WalesOnline, as usual, ruled over the youthful and inexperienced squad at Cardiff City Stadium. Here’s how the players fared during the match.

7 – Jak Alnwick He had very little to do, but what he did do  rowwas excellent. He’s quite comfortable with the ball and has good command of his box from crosses.

Perry Ng (8 points) – Another solid performance from the trusty right back. Prior to his withdrawal, I had an extremely strong partnership with Meite. Popped up late in the game to score his first goal of the season.

Mark McGuinness 8 – Another flawless game, like his partner in crime Goutas. He had to be solid with and without the ball, as well as excellent in the air. I made a tremendous block to keep Oliver Rathbone from scoring.

Dimitrios Goutas (age 8) – I had a real ding-dong with Jordan Hugill, but I came out on top. The defender is in fine form. Andre Green has been scheduled for a difficult challenge.Gillingham's loan midfielder Leo Da Silva Lopes will face former side Peterborough United this weekend

Jamilu Collins 7 – The Nigerian had a hit-or-miss afternoon. There were some fantastic chances down the left, but there were also some sloppy moments with the ball. The second half was much better.

Manolis Siopis 6 – Atypically inconsistent performance from the midfielder. He gave the ball away a few times and made a nasty tackle, earning him a yellow card. Rathbone was given the ball in a perilous situation before his shot was blocked.

Ryan Wintle 7 points After breaking past the defense, I had a good chance, but it was smartly saved. Another enjoyable outing.

Joe Ralls 8 – His set-piece delivery was particularly impressive, and he had some great link-up play with Grant down the left at times.

Yakou Meite NA – Started well and had one shot on goal, but got himself into trouble and had to be replaced early on due to an injury.

Kion Etete 9 (star man) – It was really promising after a strong showing at Ewood Park in midweek. Cardiff had a far superior platform to play from, and Cohen Bramall was outmuscled for his goal. His defensive contributions were also excellent.

Karlan Grant 8 – A mixed bag, like Collins. Made some good runs and threw in one or two decent crosses, one of which reached Etete’s head. Tanner was also fed for a chance, which he turned down.

8 – Ollie Tanner (Meite 18) He was his regular, bright self. With a couple twinkle-toed dashes in the second half, he came alive. When Grant found him with a cross, he had a great chance, but he knocked it inches wide on the half volley. However, everything is well now.

Callum Robinson (Ralls 79) 7 – He didn’t have much of an opportunity to make an impact on the game, but his late cross set up Ng’s goal.

Ike Ugbo (Grant 87) NA – His header from Robinson’s cross preceded Ng’s strike.

Ebou Adams (Siopis 87) NA – Didn’t have much to do.
