Rangers manager Michael Beale has stated ominously that the team is awaiting the results of a scan as Kemar Roofe suffers yet another injury.
The Ibrox manager disclosed after the midweek League Cup triumph over Livingston that the 30-year-old striker has a groyne injury.
And now, while Kemar Roofe and the Ibrox club await the outcome of this latest injury, the Rangers boss has commented on the situation.
“We don’t know what we’re dealing with [regarding Kemar Roofe’s injury] until we get the news back from the scan,” Michael Beale stated before of Aberdeen’s Premiership visit.
“Obviously, it’s disappointing for Kemar because he returned to the team and performed admirably.” Let’s hope it’s nothing serious and that he’ll be available soon rather than later.
“It’s frustrating because he’s such a big player and such a great player.” It’s difficult because he hasn’t been as available as he would like for three managers, not just myself, and he appeared to be in a good place.
“He was contributing well so let’s just hope he’s just felt a niggle and come out but the right thing is to get the scan.”
The #Rangers are waiting for word on Kemar Roofe’s injury.
When managers start using the “we don’t know until we know” line, I think we can all agree that it’s generally bad news and not good news that everyone is waiting on.
The situation is a harsh blow to Rangers, as well as another one to Kemar Roofe, who faces additional time on the sidelines due to injury after two seasons marred by a slew of issues.
While there will be sympathy from the Ibrox faithful, the issue has put Michael Beale’s squad management selections and the Rangers hierarchy under the microscope.
As the club’s new-look frontline struggles to find their feet at Ibrox, Michael Beale believes Kemar Roofe will be an important player for the team this season, despite his current run of injury form.
This set off alarm bells back then, and it does so even more now, with such a critical aspect of the squad seemingly gambled on and Rangers potentially lacking numerous strikers.
It’s a bet that’s still in play, and as the club waits for the dice to fall, we might look back on a serious injury to Kemar Roofe as a watershed moment in Michael Beale’s Rangers career.
