Ridvan Yilmaz has had to wait for his chance at Rangers, and his performance against Livingston demonstrated why fans should do the same.

The Turkey international, purchased for an original fee of £3.4 million, not only scored a fine solo goal against Livingston, but he also introduced a completely new dimension to the Light Blues attack.

Rangers have a full-back in Ridvan Yilmaz who can go behind opposing defenses and cause issues from wherever on the field.

Ridvan Yilmaz proves he can be Rangers attacking solution

The 22-year-old is not in the Europa League squad and was linked with a move away in the summer, but his performance against Livingston showed what he can do against tough and defense-minded opponents.

He has several sides to him.

We all know what Borna Barisic is capable of, but so do other Scottish defenders.
Ridvan Yilmaz, on the other hand, can provide Rangers with a variety of options.

The former Besiktas left-back isn’t as good a crosser as Barisic, but he can still deliver a solid ball.

However, his threat with the ball at his feet is more effective against opponents like Livingston.

Three players attempted and failed to keep up with the small defender, and this was with the ball at his feet.

If the Rangers’ midfield and front line can adapt to Yilmaz’s runs and find him more frequently, we could see a lot more delight down the left wing.

There are plenty of games for both Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz to play, but we’ve seen what happens when teams isolate the Croat; if Rangers are to develop domestically, the young Turk’s pace, trickery, and attacking purpose must be seen more frequently.
