“One of the best” – Aston Villa’s summer acquisition Emery ‘immediately’ wowed him; future undecided

Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo spoke to the Italian media today, offering Sky Sport an exclusive interview.

The 24-year-old, who is on loan from Galatasaray until the end of the season, might make the move permanent next year, depending on how well he performs.

Following his first month at Aston Villa, Zaniolo had a lot to say, starting with how impressed he was with what he’d seen so far.

“Let’s say that the structures here are a bit more advanced than in Italy, football is very different,” Zaniolo stated to Sky Sport.

“In Italy, football is more about tactics, waiting, and studying; here, football is more about being proactive.” For my characteristics, I believe this football is superior to the Italian one. As soon as I came, I realized the significance and history of a club like Aston Villa, and I set to work.”

Zaniolo was also questioned about his first meeting with Unai Emery, with whom he claims he has a very excellent relationship.

“Monchi had mentioned Emery’s intention to have me here. He is one of the best coaches around; we talked about group issues and issues on the field. He made an immediate impression on me because, aside from being a fantastic coach, I think he is a great person, direct, and knows what he wants, and I am excited to work with him.”
Sky also questioned the midfielder about his future, asking where he sees himself in five years. He stated that all he wants is to get his driver’s license by then, and that he is not really considering it.

“I hope it will be my thing in five years, and then I hope to continue to enjoy football.” I don’t set many long-term goals for myself; right now, the goal is to do well. If you meet your short-term goals, you will have a better chance of achieving your long-term goals.”

Sky then questioned Zaniolo if he had any ‘dreams’ regarding his future, and he still didn’t hint at a move to another club.
