Rangers top player have injury in dressing room

Rangers boss Michael Beale knows he is under immense pressure after losing the first Old Firm game of the season and going four points behind Celtic in the league already.

Nothing other than a convincing win over St Johnstone will be enough to begin to appease the fans today and he’s named his team to take on the McDiarmid Park side. Steven MacLean’s men won’t be an easy opponent having fought back to draw 2-2 against Dundee last time out and they’ve already held Celtic to a 0-0 draw away from home this season.

It was the scene when Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s time at Rangers effectively came to an end although he limped on to the World Cup break last season when they lost 2-1 and Beale will need to ensure the same fate doesn’t fall on him or the Ibrox men could be looking for a new manager by Monday.

It’s the usual goalkepeer and then a back four of Jack Butland, James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Ben Davies and Ridvan Yilmaz while Nico Raskin continues in midfield.

St Johnstone: Mitov, Olufunwa, Gordon, Considine, Robinson, Smith, Phillips, Kucheriavyi, Carey, Costello, Kane

Subs: Richards, Brown, Gallacher, May, MacPherson, Jephcott, McLelland, Turner-Cooker, Franczak

Rangers: Butland, Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Ridvan, Lundstram, Raskin, Lawrence, Lammers, Roofe, Danilo

Michael Beale has named his Rangers starting team to face St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership early kick-off.

The Light Blues face a huge afternoon as they look to get back to winning form and get the supporters back on side after a week to forget before the international break. First up was elimination from the Champions League play-off round by PSV after a thumping 5-1 defeat in Eindhoven secured the Dutch giants a 7-3 aggregate win over the two legs to drop the Ibrox men into the Europa League. Then a injury hit Celtic came calling to Govan and Brendan Rodgers’ men silenced a packed out home stadium with Kyogo Furuhashi netting the winner for the champions to create a four point gap between the duo after just four games
