Latest Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper’s Reds prepare for 2023/24 Premier League season
Striker Taiwo Awoniyi is prepared to prove himself all over again as he looks ahead to the new season with Nottingham Forest.
Injury hampered the 25-year-old last term, ruling him out just when he had started to find form for the Reds following his summer move. However, he returned for the final stretch and was integral in Steve Cooper’s side securing survival.
Awoniyi netted six goals in four games during the run-in, including scoring the winner in the crucial victory over Arsenal, to take his tally to 11 for the campaign in all competitions. He admits it was a “tough” year but has praised Cooper for fostering a strong team spirit in difficult circumstances.
Forest will look to bolster their attacking resources this summer, meaning the Nigeria international is likely to face competition for his place. Whatever happens, he is committed to giving his all in the Garibaldi.

“As a centre forward, the truth about the striker is goals,” he told Nigerian outlet Soccernet. “Everyone wants to score, and every striker.
“But I am not this striker that would say: ‘Every game I will score.’ But one thing I believe is that every game, I will put in my best.
