Choudhury currently has less than twelve months remaining on his deal with the Foxes and can walk away next summer for free but new head coach Enzo Maresca is keen to tie down the player’s future to avoid the inevitable loss at the end of the season
TeamTalk are also reporting that a whole host of teams have been lining up for Choudhury’s signature given the uncertainty around his future with Leicester City but the club are not willing to lose the former Burton Albion loanee.
Express and Star revealed last year that Choudhury had been a transfer target for Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion as his future with the East Midlands club, who were in the Premier League at the time, was uncertain.
Nevertheless, the midfielder ended up being loaned out to Watford for the entirety of the 2022/23 campaign as Leicester were relegated down to England’s second tier for the first time in almost a decade.
Choudhury returned to the King Power Stadium this past summer with his future still up in the air and became a transfer target for Southampton who are also starting a rebuild after failing to avoid the drop zone last term.
It was believed that the 25-year-old’s time with the former Premier League champions was up but Maresca has seemingly had a change of heart and wants Choudhury to stay with the squad past June 2024.
Choudhury has featured five times for the Foxes this season in all competitions but has yet to start a single game in the Championship under the ex-Manchester City assistant manager.

Tying Choudhury down to a new deal is understandable for Leicester City out of fear of losing the player for nothing at the end of the current campaign.
However, the player is not starting games at the King Power Stadium so signing away his future doesn’t quite make a lot of sense on a personal level.
