This summer, Miltos Marinakis hoped to bring 29-year-old to Nottingham Forest.

During the summer, Mitos Marinakis was driven to sign Michy Batshuayi to a contract with Nottingham Forest. The Reds were negotiating a deadline-day transfer for the striker, but they ultimately decided to go with Divock Origi.

The Athletic claims that Evangelos Marinakis’s son was most interested in signing Batshuayi. It is said that Miltos has long admired the striker and was eager to sign him.

In the boardroom, there was a desire to test the waters once more this summer because Forest pushed very hard to sign him in the past. But as soon as it became evident that Origi was free, Forest pushed on with that one.

Currently, Batshuayi is a player for Fenerbahce in Turkey. He won’t be leaving the club during the summer and will stay there for the 2023–24 season.

The 29-year-old has previously represented Chelsea and Crystal Palace in England. However, he has found the most happiness abroad, and in 32 games in Turkey last season, he scored 20 goals.

The idea was for Marinakis to bring Batshuayi to Forest.
In actuality, Origi is a better player for Forest. He has a considerably stronger background in the Premier League, and the team first succeeded in getting him on loan.

Although Batshuayi might have been handy, he would have probably demanded a big salary. The Reds really needed more firepower, so it is understandable why Marinakis thinks Batshuayi would be a good fit for a position.

With the addition of Origi, Forest has now strengthened their team. He’ll be hoping to make an immediate impact at his new team and leave Forest wondering what may have been with Batshuayi.
