The wage Davinson Sanchez received from Galatasaray, according to Takvim, may have contributed to some discord in the Turkish team’s locker room.
Over the course of the summer, Sanchez was associated with a wide range of teams, but the Colombian stayed at N17 past last Friday’s European deadline.
However, Spurs later succeeded in offloading both the center defender and Tanguy Ndombele to Galatasaray, with the former leaving in a move worth €9.5 million (£8.1 million) and the latter joining on loan with the option to make it permanent for €15 million (£12.8 million).
At Galatasaray, Sanchez’s arrival causes an issue.
According to Takvim, Sanchez will now make €3.2 million (£2.7 million) a year, which is a lot more than the other defenders at the club.
Although several of Galatasaray’s other recent additions, such as Ndombele, Wilfried Zaha, and Hakim Ziyech, are paid significant salaries as well, it is emphasized that Sanchez’s pay raises particular concerns.
This is due to the fact that the top two defenders from last season, Victor Nelsson and Abdülkerim Bardakci, earn, respectively, €1.3 million (£1.1 million) and €800 thousand (£686 thousand), while right-back Sacha Boey only makes €400 thousand (£343,000) annually.
Sanchez’s arrival, according to the publication, has caused “significant deviations” in the “salary balance within the team,” which is why it is urgent.
Even though Galatasaray is in the Champions League, Sanchez was not willing to accept a significant pay cut to join them. Therefore, the Turkish team would have to pay him a salary that was at least somewhat comparable to the £3.3 million he was receiving from Tottenham.
