Ishe Samuels Smith has admitted to being shocked after he secured a permanent exit from Everton in order to join Chelsea.
The Toffees confirmed via their official website on 8 July that the 17-year-old will be moving to Stamford Bridge
They also revealed that they will be receiving significant compensation as he left the club permanently
Football London journalist Scott Trotter carried Samuels-Smith’s quotes where he said, “It was a shock to me because it all happened quickly, but I’m really glad to be here. It’s going to be a good experience coming into such a big club. It will be a new challenge because there are top players here, so I am going to have to adapt quickly.”
Tough to digest
Samuels-Smith was among the biggest talents at the club and the hierarchy will surely be upset that they’ll be losing out on him.
He’s certainly going to be a valuable addition for Chelsea so they should be happy with the fact that they’re getting someone who can soon be a first-team contender.
Had Everton been able to promise him first-team football quicker then he perhaps would not have minded staying put at Goodison Park as well.
It remains to be seen how he ends up faring but the time now for the Toffees is to go out and make signings of their own.
Sean Dyche will be fuming at the fact that they failed to bring in anyone in January and even in the first month of the summer window, he’s still waiting on arrivals.
A striker is a priority but he’s likely to want a wide attacker, midfielder and perhaps another defender as well.
In Everton news, Alan Myers has shared a major update on Sean Dyche’s future after a development over his sacking has emerged recently.
