According to Brian Robb of MassLive, the popular veteran free agent Blake Griffin of the Boston Celtics isn’t anticipated to sign with the team before the 2023–24 season, but he might wind up doing so later on in the campaign.
Robb said that depending on who the Celtics sign prior to training camp, “the door could remain open for Griffin to join the team later if he decides to play this season seeing that the team could easily open a roster spot.” Robb continued, “Otherwise, Boston will need to look elsewhere for added frontcourt depth.”
During the 2022–23 season, Griffin started 16 games for the Celtics and played more than 21 minutes per contest while averaging 8.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and two assists. He wasn’t a part of the team’s postseason rotation, but he wasn’t a star for the Cs either.
