newest Birmingham news about Aston VillaLive following Newcastle United’s release of Ciaran Clark
After being released by Newcastle United this summer, Ciaran Clark, a former defender for Aston Villa, has been connected to a new team.
The 33-year-old centre back left the Magpies last season following only 11 appearances during an injury-plagued loan stint at Sheffield United.
Before making 159 first-team appearances for the Villans during a seven-year period, Clark progressed through Villa’s development academy.
Additionally, according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon, Clark, a free agency defender and Republic of Ireland international, has had discussions with Stoke City.
Stoke will still be able to sign the defender because the summer transfer window did not close until September 1 and he is a free agent.
Following a challenging start to the season, the Potters are presently 16th in the Championship. After the international break, Alex Neil’s team will play Norwich City after losing to Preston 2-0 in their previous match.
