Midfielder for Toon leaves training camp with a new injury concern, but Fabian Schar is showing promise.

Just days after receiving his first call-up to the Scotland team ahead of matches against Cyprus and England, Elliot Anderson was forced to leave the team.

He sustained an injury on Tuesday during practice, according to both The Scotsman and The Herald, and was returned to Newcastle for medical attention.

The good news is that it’s only assumed to be a “knock” and not a serious injury that would keep him out for a while, but it’s still devastating for the young player and another worry for Eddie Howe, who only a few days earlier announced Joe Willock would be out for six weeks.

An indication that Fabian Schar’s hamstring is fine is that he has been seen joining the Switzerland team ahead of their Euro qualifying matches against Kosovo and Andorra.

In the closing moments of our 3-1 loss to Brighton, the 31-year-old appeared to be gripping his hamstring, giving us more cause for concern at center defense after Sven Botman suffered an ankle injury. But the fact that he hasn’t left the Swiss team suggests that he’s well.Elliot Anderson: Midfielder pulls out of Scotland double header - BBC Sport

Hope he avoids aggravating his hamstring over the international break. He first felt it during our preseason friendly against Chelsea in July.
