Liverpool could turn to ‘super-special’ player to replace of a talented player

According to reports, Joe Gomez might step in at right-back depending on how seriously Trent Alexander-Arnold’s most recent injury setback affects him.

The 26-year-old defender may move back to right-sided fullback if Alexander-Arnold’s injury turns out to be more serious than initially thought, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Gomez filled in at right-back for the remainder of the game after the England international was forced to leave the pitch in the 71st minute with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

When the international break ends, the centre back may start for Liverpool in the right-back position because Alexander-Arnold’s injury has not yet received a final diagnosis.

Gomez has impressed for Liverpool this season after suffering a disastrous campaign last year, earning praise from Jurgen Klopp for his “super-special” performance against Newcastle United.

Gomez, who performed admirably against Aston Villa this past weekend, might make a great stand-in for Alexander-Arnold if the England international is sidelined for an extended period of time.

If Alexander-Arnold suffers a catastrophic injury, Gomez can step in.

Few Liverpool supporters would have thought that Gomez would be as effective as he has been this year, and the defender might be a perfect stand-in for Alexander-Arnold if the defender gets injured.

Given that there are no other right-back options in the team, the former Charlton Athletic star has been one of Liverpool’s most dependable players during the last two games.

Since Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are also anticipated to return for Liverpool, the switch may be necessary, and Gomez is more than capable of taking Alexander-Arnold’s place at right-back.
