ALBIAN AJETI, Celtic’s £5million misfit marksman, has finally left the champions after nine goals for the club following his costly and disastrous arrival from West Ham in the summer of 2020.
The big-money recruit, who spent last season on loan at Sturm Graz, has signed a permanent deal with Turkish club Gaziantep.
The Swiss flop netted only four times for the Austrian team in 23 appearances and they decided not to activate the purchase option.
It looked as though Ajeti might spend the remaining 12 months of his contract at Parkhead without the hope of a first-team appearance, but the Turkish Super Lig outfit have come up with a solution with a one-year contract with the option of another.
The transfer window in the country is open until a week on Friday after the UK deadline passed four days ago.
The 26-year-old former international attacker scored six goals in his first term at the Hoops after being brought to the club by Neil Lennon.
Following the exit of the Northern Irishman, Ange Postecoglou took over and Ajeti struck three times in the Greek-Australian’s first campaign.
He was jettisoned on a temporary transfer to Austria and the sad chapter has now come to a welcome completion with a switch to Turkey for an undisclosed fee.
Ajeti cost Celtic £555,555 per goal in his wasteful spell in Glasgow.
A statement from the Turkish outfit announced: “Our Gaziantep Football Club has reached a 1+1 year agreement with Swiss striker Albian Ajeti.
“At the signing ceremony, attended by our Vice President İbrahim Dicle, Ajeti signed the official contract binding him to our red-black club. We welcome Ajeti to our club and wish him great success under our crest.”
