So, eight senior players have left Leeds United on loan – and Marc Roca is the pick of the bunch at this early stage. But, Rasmus Kristensen could find he is back by January – if new reports are actually true.
Roca is impressing in Spain with Betis, his performance on the weekend termed “remarkable”. Robin Koch and Max Wober are starting regularly for Frankfurt and Gladbach. Diego Llorente too, for Roma.
But it starts to get worse. Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra are yet to play for Everton or Bournemouth. Brenden Aaronson has already been sent off with Union Berlin – the club to sign Leonardo Bonucci.
Denmark star Kristensen could be about to go one worse than that. The 25-year-old started off as first choice, starting the opening Serie A game of the season – a 2-2 draw with Salernitana. Average display.
The second game, hooked at half-time against Verona – a 2-1 loss and on Saturday, Milan travelled to Roma. Kristensen was dropped, and did not get on. He is seen as behind Zeki Celik and Rick Karsdorp.
After just three games, he is already third choice. But it is getting worse. Italian report Corriere Dello Sport say he could now be left of Roma’s Europa League squad. The group stages start this month.
Kristensen could be back at Leeds in January if reports are true
One of the biggest reasons why Kristensen would have picked Roma, is Europa League football. But, it looks as if he is not going to be given that chance – having firmly fallen down the Roma pecking order.
So, struggling to get into the starting XI at Roma in the League – and potentially, out of the European squad – he may struggle to get back in. A return to Leeds in January might have to be considered.
Certainly, if things continues as they look as though they will – he may have to be recalled. Would he get back in at Leeds? Probably not. He has not played for Leeds, so another loan would be allowed.
