Steve Bull, a former player at Molineux, revealed his frustration with Matheus Nunes after the midfielder went on strike to quit the team.
The Portuguese was transferred by Wolves to Manchester City for £53 million, and he is no longer a member of the Wolves team.
On the day of the deadline, Nunes formally finished the transfer, while Tommy Doyle transferred in the opposite way in a separate transaction.
It appears that Nunes attempted to force a departure from the team since City was unwilling to pay a premium.
The clubs finally reached a consensus.
However, Nunes has received a lot of criticism over the past week, and now a club great has joined the chorus.
Nunes got what he wanted in the end.
But he will now not have too many friends at Wolves. At least in the form of supporters of the club.
Many just feel disappointed, and Bull has now given his take on the situation.
He said (Express & Star): “I was disappointed and frustrated at how Matheus Nunes acted in his final days at Wolves.
“There’s no loyalty in football any more – it’s shocking in my eyes.
“If you have a long contract you should try to serve as much of that as you can. I know a club like Manchester City can turn your head, but he shouldn’t have gone on strike.
“He should have got his head down and focused on his football, and let everyone else sort out the deal.
“But he’s gone now and I wish him well. With him going, Wolves have been able to add in some key positions.”
Many Wolves fans are still annoyed with Nunes and how he engineered his exit at Molineux.
And it will likely stay that way for a while.
Nunes has suggested in a statement on social media that there is more to the story.
But for the moment, it is a terrible look for Nunes. It will probably remain a bad look regardless of if anything else comes out.
But hopefully now, Wolves can move on from the situation and the new signings purchased after he left can settle quickly.
