Sunderland AFC have reportedly reached an agreement to sign highly-rated French defender Dayann Méthalie from Toulouse FC, in what could become another major addition to the Black Cats’ squad. Recent reports put the deal at around €28 million plus €2 million in add-ons, with Méthalie expected to undergo a medical before the transfer is completed.

Méthalie, who is primarily a left-back/defender rather than a forward or winger, has emerged as one of Toulouse’s promising young players. The France youth international is valued for his physical strength, defensive ability and willingness to contribute going forward.

The move would represent a significant investment in Sunderland’s recruitment strategy, with the club continuing to target young players with the potential to develop into top-level Premier League performers.
