Leeds United has announced the signing of Glen Kamara, their second signing of the day. The Whites paid an unknown fee to Glasgow Rangers for the Finland international, which is thought to be approximately £9.5 million.
Kamara has signed a four-year contract with Daniel Farke’s side, adding another critical set of legs to a midfield department that was previously lacking in depth. The Whites had been linked with the 27-year-old for multiple windows, but they have finally landed him on the penultimate day of the 2023 summer season.
Kamara began his career as a teenager with Southend United before impressing Arsenal enough to be accepted into their academy in 2012. In October 2015, he made his senior debut for Arsenal in the EFL Cup.
Before leaving Arsenal permanently in July 2017, he had loan spells in the lower tiers of the English Football League with Southend United and Colchester United. Dundee signed Kamara, but by January 2019, he had attracted enough attention north of the line for Rangers to sign him.
He has gone on to make 193 appearances in four-and-a-half years with the Gers, including Europa League and Champions League experience. However, his nine goals in that time may tell Leeds fans all they need to know about his best roles on the field
Kamara, who was born in Tampere, has been a regular for Finland since his international debut in November 2017. To date, the midfielder has received 52 caps.
