Man Utd have reportedly joined Juventus in the race to sign Ghana international Thomas Partey from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

The 30-year-old signed for Arsenal from La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid in 2020. He completed his move to the London outfit after they activated his £45m release clause.

The defensive midfielder has struggled with injuries over the past three seasons but he has been a key player for the Gunners.

Partey impressed during the opening few months of the 2022/23 campaign but his form declined during the run-in.

Granit Xhaka’s move to Bayer Leverkusen has been confirmed this week and it is believed that Partey could follow him out of Arsenal.

He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia but he reportedly favours a switch to Italian giants Juventus.

But Paul Ince (in his not-so-infinite wisdom) has called on Man Utd to sign Partey and according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Premier League giants are interested in him.

The ‘exit door is wide open’ for Partey at Arsenal, who is harshly referred to as ‘one of the worst signing in the club’s recent history’.

Despite him apparently being a big flop at the Emirates, Man Utd are ‘seeking’ for his services and he has the ‘opportunity’ to find himself working under Erik ten Hag.

TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Charles Watts has explained why he feels Arsenal should “keep” Partey around.

“They are definitely open to potentially listening to offers for Thomas Partey but I don’t think it’s got any further than that at the moment,” Watts told TEAMtalk

“I don’t think they are actively pushing him out the door. But should a decent offer arrive for a player who has had consistent injury issues and has only got two years left on his deal when he’s now in his 30s, they’re not going to stand in his way.

“Personally, I’d be keeping him. You’re basically losing Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey in the same summer, that’s two of your starting three midfielders from last year that nearly won the title.

“So it’s a huge risk; you’re basically changing the engine room in that midfield. Even if you replace Thomas Partey with a younger player like Lavia, when you’re going into a Champions League campaign and you’re trying to beat Manchester City to the title, I think it’s a risk. So I’d be keeping him.

“If you’ve got Thomas Partey and Declan Rice vying it out for the number six position in the squad, you’re in a very, very strong position.”
