It looks to be an exciting season for Portsmouth as John Mousinho begins the squad-building process at Fratton Park, which could be promoted at the end of the League One season.
For a club of Pompey’s caliber, they should ideally be in English football’s top two leagues, but since promotion from League Two in 2017, they have struggled to return to the Championship.
They have repeatedly come close to returning to the second division, but have moved away from promotion over the past two seasons and hope the appointment of Mousinho will become a turning point for them.
His side finished the season in eighth place, but the Portsmouth manager has played a key role in showing signs of the club’s progress since his appointment.

Fratton Park hasn’t watched Championship football since 2012, but Pompey is hoping 2024 could be the year he returns to English football’s second division.
This will be his seventh consecutive season in the Third Division, and the summer transfer window has seen plenty of names coming in, both in terms of number of entries and exits.
However, Portsmouth have a number of young players from their academy who will be hoping for more opportunities this season in League One.

It is known that they tend to give their young players a chance, especially when playing at a lower league level where it is easy for academy graduates to make an impression.

Devlin’s breakthrough may have come true as the 19-year-old midfielder has scored once in three appearances.
He has decent experience in the Northern Ireland league with Dungannon Swifts and Glentoran, and the midfielder joined the latter in the summer.
At the start of the season, it’s still unclear how Devlin will be involved, but he’s impressed so far and could become a player on the way to ramping up growth this campaign.

The 18-year-old played 59 minutes in the EFL Trophy and his ceiling is extremely high thanks to the quality of his possession.
He has strong competition at center back and midfield, but could be another player who can break through, either this season or next.
Harry Jewitt-White
The Wales youngster made his Portsmouth debut in a 0-1 loss to West Ham United’s Under-21 side in November 2020 at the EFL Trophy.
16 years and 230 days, he became the third youngest player in Portsmouth’s post-World War II history.
Since then, Jewitt-White has been on loan several times to gain experience, including at Havant, Waterlooville and Gosport Borough, and he returned to the old team this summer, where he had five.
