Liverpool transfer news as $252m talented player claim emerges and ‘Newcastle wins wonderkid race’

The summer transfer window might have closed but Liverpool is not quite done yet with speculation surrounding Mohamed Salah because of the Saudi deadline not coming for another few days.

Even though the Reds continue to insist that a move away for Salah is simply off the table, it is possible more offers are submitted which are designed to test FSG’s resolve. Ultimately, though, with getting a replacement in literally being impossible until January, it would have to take a figure well above those touted so far before it can even be spoken about seriously.

Elsewhere, there are claims that Newcastle United has beaten Liverpool to the transfer of an England wonderkid. The end of the transfer window only prevents deals from taking place right now — plans will already be formulated for future moves and stars will continue to be linked.

There remains plenty for Jürgen Klopp’s side to be thinking about, including the future of sporting director Jörg Schmadtke and whether or not he will continue in the post. And by next summer at the latest, a defender and a holding midfielder will be required.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Trevan Sanusi (Birmingham City)

Liverpool has been beaten to the signing of England youth starlet Trevan Sanusi, NUFC Blog reports. The 16-year-old winger is supposedly one of the top young talents in the country and was also being chased by both Manchester clubs and Spurs.

The Reds have turned their attention to snapping up the best young British talent around recently with the signings of players like Ben Doak and Bobby Clark.

Liverpool home shirt 2023/2024

Liverpool’s home shirt for the 2023/2024 campaign pays homage to Bill Shankly and the legendary Reds manager’s final season in charge at Anfield. The Nike shirt features a bright red design with a bold white contrast on the colour and cuffs.

Liverpool.com says: There is a price at which there is a conversation to be had but even a bid north of $250m is not a game-changer for Liverpool in the current climate. The cost of whoever was targeted to replace him in the future would be immediately ramped up in the knowledge that the Reds were flush with cash and in the meantime, a promising start to the new season would be derailed.
