Manchester City academy graduate Phil Foden has revealed that he is ready to take on greater leadership responsibility at the club as he enters a new chapter of his Manchester City career.
Foden, who has been with City since his academy days and has developed into one of the club’s most important players, admitted that he would like to be part of the club’s leadership group following significant changes to the squad.
The 26-year-old’s desire comes at an important moment for Manchester City. With former captain Bernardo Silva leaving the club and other experienced players departing, Foden believes his long-standing connection with City could allow him to play a bigger role both on and off the pitch.
Speaking about the possibility of becoming part of the leadership team, Foden made it clear that he is prepared to accept the responsibility. His comments underline how much his role has changed since he first broke into the senior team as a teenager.
Foden has also committed his future to Manchester City by signing a new contract that keeps him at the club until 2030. The academy graduate has already collected 20 major honours with City and is now looking forward to helping the team compete for even more trophies.
Under new manager Enzo Maresca, Foden is expected to be an important figure as Manchester City begin a new era. The midfielder has expressed excitement about working under the new manager and appears determined to rediscover his best form while becoming an even more influential figure within the squad.
