Aston Villa star Zych consents to join Puszcza Niepolomice, according to sources
Oliwier Zych, a custodian for Aston Villa, will be loaned out to Polish team Puszcza Niepolomice, according to sources.
The Villa club holds the 19-year-old custodian in high respect and believes that a loan to his own country is the best next step in his development.
It is believed that he and Puszcza Niepolomice have reached an agreement, and the transfer cutoff will be reached before the deal is finalised and announced.
Since joining Aston Villa in the Premier League in 2020, Zych has yet to make his varsity debut for the team.
He joined Villa from Polish team Zaglebie Lubin after wowing scouts with his goalkeeping abilities.
Zych was a member of the Villa Park team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2021, making one appearance during the cup run and recording a clean sheet.
His impressive performances at youth level also earned him an international call-up, with Zych having featured in Poland’s Under-15s and Under-16s squads.
Villa are currently well-stacked in the goalkeeping department, with World Cup-winner Emiliano Martinez currently the first-choice at the club.
The depth that veteran custodian Robin Olsen brings to Unai Emery’s team makes it difficult for Zych to contend for a starting position, even in cup games.
Zych, though, is still considered a good prospect by Villa, and the club’s coaches preferred to hold onto him and retain him on loan so he could gain experience rather selling him permanently.
