The South London Press understands that Roy Hodgson is adding Shaun Derry into his Crystal Palace backroom team.

Derry was axed from Patrick Vieira’s first-team coaching staff last season in February.

But the Frenchman was sacked a month later following a 1-0 defeat at Brighton.

The 45-year-old never officially left the club.

Derry will be joining Hodgson alongside Paddy McCarthy, Ray Lewington and Dean Kiely ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

Hodgson, 75, was confirmed as the Palace boss for the 2023-24 season on Monday.

Derry has had managerial spells at Notts County and Cambridge United during his coaching career.

He made 222 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles across two separate spells as a player, winning the First Division play-off final with Palace in 2004.

Derry also played in the side that survived relegation from the Championship in 2010 when the club were in administration.Training Ground Guru | Shaun Derry appointed first-team coach at Crystal Palace
