Derby County have been connected with a transfer to Sheffield Wednesday ahead of the deadline.

Derbyshire Live brings you the latest Derby County news, including what has been said about the Owls midfielder who played under Warne at Rotherham.

Before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, Derby County have been linked with a deal for Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Will Vaulks.

Despite being a staple in the side that gained promotion via the League One playoffs last season, Vaulks has only started one game for the Owls this season.

With Wednesday expecting to make further signings before the 11 p.m. deadline following a disappointing start to the season, the midfielder’s future is now in doubt.

And the Sheffield Star believes that the Owls are interested in both Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick, which might open the way for Vaulks to leave.

The midfielder is in the penultimate year of his Hillsborough deal, but he is expected to have many suitors given his durability, which saw him play 54 games last season.

Derby are reportedly interested in the 29-year-old, who is no stranger to head coach Paul Warne, having previously worked with at Rotherham.

The speculation comes with Derby keen on adding a midfielder who can also play wing-back with Joe Ward and Kane Wilson currently sidelined for the next five weeks at least because of injury.

Assistant head coach Richie Barker said earlier today that Derby do have one or two irons in the fire ahead of deadline as they look to apply the finishing touches to their squad.

The Rams have made 10 signings so far this summer with Tyrese Fornah and Tyreece John-Jules being the last additions through the door at Pride Park.
