Pompey have completed the loan signing of Tino Anjorin.
The Blues have finally won the race for the exciting, young midfielder who was also being chased by the likes of League One rivals Reading and Dutch side Volendam.
Anjorin arrives on a season-long loan and will be available for this weekend’s clash with Peterborough United.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan in the Championship with Huddersfield and previously spent time with Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow.
Anjorin came through the ranks at Chelsea and is part of the conveyor belt of talent to emerge from their Cobham base.
The Poole talent scored when they won the FA Youth Cup in 2018 against Arsenal and has featured five times – including a Premier League outing against Everton in 2020.
Pompey have completed the signing of Tino Anjorin on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.
The 21-year-old midfielder has progressed through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and been capped by England up to under-20 level.
Blues boss John Mousinho said: “I think everyone knows that this is something that’s been rumbling on for a while.
“So we’re delighted that we’ve managed to get it over the line and secure Tino’s signature – we’re excited to see what he’s going to bring.
“We’ve got a player with Premier League capability, who’s excellent on the ball and has real athletic qualities.
“He can carry it, he can find a pass and he can score a goal – now he has to knit all that together on a consistent basis.
“We’re delighted that we’ve managed to get it over the line and secure Tino’s signature – we’re excited to see what he’s going to bring.”
“I think he can be a big threat for us. We’re bringing in a real talent and have to ensure we make the most of that.
“It’s a move that we thought was gone after bringing in Alex Robertson, but the injuries to Tom Lowery and Kusini Yengi meant it opened back up again.
“So we’re really glad that we’ve been able to complete the deal and I’m looking forward to working with Tino.”
Anjorin first joined Chelsea at under-7 level and scored in the second leg when they beat Arsenal to lift the FA Youth Cup in 2018.
He featured for the club in the EFL Trophy before making his senior debut from the bench in a 7-1 Carabao Cup rout of Grimsby.
Anjorin has appeared five times for the Londoners’ first team, including in a Premier League victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge in 2020.
He has also gained experience with previous spells out on loan, first at Lomomotiv Moscow and then with Huddersfield in the Championship.
