Reported Celtic target Fabian Rieder is nearing a €12m move to Rennes. The clubs are discussing the deal

As reported by Florian Plettenberg on Twitter/X, Rieder is in advanced discussions with the North of France outfit.

In 121 appearances, Rieder has 15 goals and 24 assists to his name along with two Swiss Super League titles and a Swiss Cup. There are strong rumours that Celtic are keen on bringing Rieder to Celtic Park and would be prepared to break their transfer record to fend off interest from Germany in the attacking midfielder. RB Leipzig are noted as having an interest in the player and but the Ligue 1 side are nearing a deal that would see him swap Switzerland for France.

Celtic may have been interested earlier this summer but the reported price tag would make it almost impossible for the Scottish Champions to proceed. Rodgers would likely have wanted to strengthen in this position (defensive midfield) but other positions have taken priority

Looking like we still have no intentions of going above the 5M mark for a player, not unless we can secure a loan to buy deal.
This tend to be last minute deals as such, so could explain why the bigger deals for the likes of ourselves can drag on and a huge amount of risk involved.
Very risky approach to be taking by the board, if that is the case, but could provide great dividends like Jota and CCV provided.
Looking like a long week ahead as expected some noise to be made today, especially in the CB position, with a trip to that shit hole on Sunday
