Sheffield United have been given a big lift as they look to make Brondby star Anis Slimane their first summer signing, with a report providing the latest on his situation.
Slimane is a 22-year-old midfielder who was born in Denmark but represents Tunisia at international level, having won 29 caps for them. He joined Brondby U19s in July 2019 and was promoted to the Danish club’s first team a year later. Since then, he has gone on to make 121 senior appearances, registering nine goals and 12 assists in that time.
With Slimane entering the final year of his Brondby contract, rumours have begun to swirl about a potential move to Sheff Utd, who are preparing for a return to the Premier League next season
Recent reports have suggested the Blades are in discussions with Brondby over Slimane’s potential move to South Yorkshire. According to Nathan Hemmingham of Yorkshire Live, Sheff Utd showed the player and his entourage around their Shirecliffe training ground last month.
Danish outlet BT (as cited by Sport Witness) have now given their information on the transfer pursuit. They claim Paul Heckingbottom’s side are ‘ready to pay €1.2million’ (£1m) to sign Slimane.
Italian club Frosinone, who finished top of Serie B last term, have also expressed an interest in landing Slimane. However, they can only afford to make a €500,000 (£428k) offer for him, which means it is more likely the Copenhagen-born ace will move to Bramall Lane this summer.
