‘I’m impressed,’ says Peter Grant in response to the proposal that Celtic sign Aberdeen talented star…

Peter Grant has played down the suggestion that Celtic should sign Aberdeen striker, Bojan Miovski.

Kyogo Furuhashi is the main man up top for Celtic and that won’t change, but help and more depth is needed in those forward areas.

When the name of Bojan Miovski was put forward to Grant as a possible signing for the Treble-winners this summer, whilst he shared that he has been ‘impressed’ with the 24-year-old, he added that he would just end up being a ‘squad player’, as he told Go Radio.

This isn’t probably the start Brendan Rodgers wanted following his return to Parkhead, with the League Cup defeat and injuries just dampening the mood in the camp.

Added to that, the transfers aren’t coming in as quickly as the fans would like, with the 2023 window slamming shut next week.

As John Hartson stated, there is no need to panic because there is a long way to go, with fans hoping there will be some light heading into the Old Firm next month.

Nonetheless, this is what Grant had to say about Miovski as a player and if the champions should push for him this summer.

“Miovski, I have been impressed with him,” said Grant. “I watched him at Celtic Park last season and I thought he worked the line really well.

“He gets into good positions. Looks like a striker who wants to score – Maybe lacks the finesse of the other top strikers.

“But for Celtic, I still think he will end up being a squad player because Kyogo has to play right up the pitch.

“Miovski is a very good player. I think Aberdeen will do well to hold onto him because I think they were talking last week about a £1 million bid down south, maybe in the Championship, so I am not so sure about that.”

Attacking quality needed

It needs to be noted that Miovski isn’t someone who has been linked to the club, just a name mentioned by an eager supporter.

But that doesn’t mean that more attacking bite isn’t needed before the window slams shut, with a couple of Premier League stars linked.

Wolves’ flying winger Daniel Podence has been talked about, including Scotland’s forgotten man, Ryan Fraser, whoever comes in, the right call needs to be made, or else, a frustrated fanbase will make their feelings known.
