These players have been honoured by the Celtics by having their 23 jersey numbers (and one name) retired.

No team in NBA history has more titles than the Boston Celtics — at least not yet — so it makes sense there are no other franchises with more retired numbers to honor the players who earned and hung those banners over the decades.

In fact, no team in any sport has more retired jersey numbers than the Celtics’ 23, a reflection of the excellence behind the Celtics mystique built by franchise architect Red Auerbach. From his signing with the team as coach and general manager onward, Boston became on

If you thought the “Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum can’t win together on the Boston Celtics” debate was over, guess again — fellow NBAer Patrick Beverley brought it back to life again on a recent episode of his “Pat Bev” podcast. Asked if “Tatum and Brown can get it done together,” the now-Philadelphia 76ers veteran floor general did not mince words.

“No — too much of the same player,” said Beverley via Bleacher Report’s Doric Sam. “They don’t compliment each other enough. They complement each other, but not enough.” Asked who, then, he would trade away, however, and the Sixers guard had a surprising answer.

“You don’t get rid of anything,” he explained. “You just add. You add a defensive point guard, you add a 3-and-D guy

Asked if he might be the sort of player the Celtics could use, the defensive specialist told his interlocutor to “chill” — “Maybe some shot-blocking, a stretch five,” he added. “But they did it with (Kristaps) Porzingis … with Porzingis, (the Celtics) will be a lot better.”

Given Boston has a defensive point guard (Derrick White), a shot-blocker (Robert Williams III), a stretch five (Al Horford), and that Porzingis is a bit of a very tall 3-and-D guy who also does a bit of all the above save the point

The Boston Celtics have been inviting numerous wings to workouts in recent days. Currently, the Celtics have two open roster spots heading into training camp. Behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, there are minutes at the wing position up for grabs.

According to SNY’s Ian Begley, the Celtics recently worked out Glen Robinson III as they continue exploring all available options. Robinson, 29, is a former second-round pick who is entering his eighth year in the NBA. This past season, Robinson played 23 games for the Sacramento Kings, starting two and averaging 5.9 points and 2.6 rebounds on 45.7% shooting from the field and 37.3% from 3-point range.

The other wings the Celtics will be hosting for workouts are TJ Warren, Lamar Stevens, and Louis King

Warren has spent the past season with the Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns after recovering from a foot injury that kept him out of the 2021-22 season. Stevens is known for his defensive upside and intensity. And, King is a career two way player who is likely looking to take a step up in role.

Brad Stevens will have a tough decision to make regarding who he extends a contract offer to. However, we can rest assured any decision he makes will be based on legitimate talent evaluations and scouting.Celtics designs, themes, templates and downloadable graphic elements on Dribbble
