Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio writes on his website that the clubs are currently ‘closing negotiation’ for the 20-year-old.
As Leicester City and Bologna have ‘contacts in progress’ for the transfer, it’s said they’re ‘close to the agreement’, even though there’s one important piece left.
A replacement for Kristiansen is still missing, as the Foxes want a new left-back before he lets the Dane go.
That isn’t expected to take long, though, with Di Marzio claiming there’s ‘great optimism’ between the parties, and the deal is so close that the player could arrive in Bologna on Friday.
The story does not say how much the Serie A side are paying for Kristiansen, who’s valued by Transfermarkt at €12m and has a contract with Leicester City until 2028.
Previous reports from the Italian media had claimed that the Foxes would accept a loan with an obligation to buy, but would demand €3-4m up front before they even let him move.
Bologna wanted just a purchase option, so we will have to wait and see how they settle the transfer when all is announced.
This is particularly the case in the Championship, with some clubs, including the recently relegated Premier League sides, having greater financial means than those in the League’s One and Two.
That said, having seen their teams in action in the opening few weekends of the Championship, clubs are continuing to explore options to strengthen.
With that in mind, below, we’ve rounded up all of the latest transfer news and rumours coming out of the EFL Championship today.
Ipswich Town secure Man Utd loan deal
One of the biggest news stories coming out of the division today undoubtedly revolves around Ipswich Town, with Kieran McKenna calling on his old club for a favour.
Indeed, the Tractor Boys have snapped up young United full-back Brandon Williams on a season-long loan deal.
